Yale-New Haven Hospital Day Care Center
May 2012. I remember when I first looked around the daycare I wasn’t sure how I felt about it being a converted house but now that I have had kids at the school for 4 years I absolutely love it. The rooms open up so that classes adjacent can play together. The infant/toddler rooms are absolutely incredible. The teachers are caring and the kids adore each other. The classrooms have 3 teachers for about 8 or 9 children and the kids range in age from 0-3 in each room. The idea being that the younger kids learn from the older ones and the older ones learn how to nurture the younger ones. Initially, I was concerned my child would regress being with younger kids but it has been an incredible experience. My kids have learned patience and self confidence. I can not stress how amazing the teachers are at this program, they really are an extended family.
As you enter the preschool program the classes get larger but it is the same structure, where there is a mix of 3-5 year olds. Having had kids at the preschool for 4 years I can tell you that this year there has been a vast improvement in the ciriculum. My 4 year old is reading! The teachers have really taken the time to get to know my child and his preferences and he loves going to school, playing with his friends and learning something new every day. Every Friday in the summer the kids go to listen to Jazz outside and have a picnic near the hospital and there are always other fun acitivites.
