December 2012.  We just celebrated our son’s 5th birthday at Common Ground and it was fabulous!! we chose the outdoor scavenger hunt theme. the kids went on a hike, found all sorts of treasures in the woods, had lunch and then had time to play with the chickens afterwards. they host both indoors and outdoors and have a wonderful list of suggested themes (on their website), but accomodate each family’s ideas. October 2012.  I went to a pretty big party at the Whitney Museum in May of last year. There were more than 20 kids, and about as many parents. They did a woodworking crafts activity that my four-year-old daughter really enjoyed. It’s a great space, and in good weather the grounds are nice for walking/running around. On a really cold day I can imagine the woodshop being chilly, but I haven’t been there in winter, so that’s just a guess. Tim H.

October 2012.  I second the Peabody. We had my sons 7th birthday there this April and all the kids and parents loved it. A few even stuck around with us afterwards to see the entire museum. Judite V.

October 2012.  I think Gymboree is great but better for younger kids (2-4). There’s Rascals Gym in Hamden and My Gym in Orange that are similar but would be a little more enjoyable for the 6 year-old set, I think. We went to one at My Gym and thought the staff did a great job. Also the JCC in Woodbridge does parties and has a big indoor playscape.

If you can look a little out of the area we went to a really awesome kids party at The Sportsplex in Fairfield, it’s a gymnastics training center and they have all kinds of fun and safe trampolines and other bouncing and tumbling equipment. It was a party for a 3 year-old, but the guests included a lot of older kids and they all had a blast, and the staff was great at moderating everything. Diane P.

October 2012.  I might be the newbie for suggesting places for 6 yrs old kids, as i am only 2yrs old parent ;-)) but see if you like these places.. Bounce-U at stratford is good, its a indoor bouncing place and kids of every age can have fun there.. also check the Andie;s Bouncing barn, its also a nice place.  Charuta K.

November 2012.  We used Cat’s gymnastics for my daughter’s 3 year old birthday.  The kids had a blast in the gym part.  We combined it with another family in her childcare class to minimize cost.  Cons: The party room was small, and we had to rush to vacate in time for the next family coming in.  Mira D.
