CT Folk Festival & Green Expo in New Haven

edgerton_park_photoIt’s the Fifth Birthday of the 2010 CT Green Expo on Saturday, Sept. 11!

FREE fun and education for all ages, outdoors in beautiful Edgerton Park, New Haven from  11 am to 4 pm.  Please join us for a day of fun, learning, sunshine and music, as we celebrate “One Planet, Many Choices.”

•Over 75 booths with exhibitors, educators, and vendors in Edgerton Park
•Workshops and activities for adults and kids
•Yummy food from local vendors
•Live family-friendly music on the World Stage. The performance at 1:15 by Rob Messore is especially for little ones under 6.

12:00 pm: CT Folk Songwriting Finalists perform
1:15 pm: Rob Messore, the Toddler Tunes Wizard, with a special set for younger kids
2:15 pm: The Professors of Bluegrass
3:15 pm: Red Molly, an irresistible blend of girl-power and Americana roots music.

green_kidsFree Workshops for Kids at the Green Kids Area

11:30 – 12:15 pm: Wonderful Worms with the Worm Woman/ Lexy Wilcox. Lexy will show off her little buddies and tell you how to make them happy so your garden will thrive.

12:30- 1 pm: Yoga for Kids and Families / Kami Mikelis of Little Warriors. Beginners welcome! Kami will lead you through stretches and poses for good health and happy faces.

2 pm- 2:30 pm: Recycling is Magic! (magic show) / Cyril  the Sorcerer performs a magical story that will make you laugh, make you gasp, and show you the REAL magic that comes from recycling.

2:45 pm– 3:30 pm: Solar Cell Transformers / Gary Krancher. Gary will provide supplies and show you how to turn solar cells into cool projects, like a solar lamp to light up your Halloween pumpkin.

Ongoing: Making art from just about anything / Alana Rivers of Echoing Art. Juice up your creativity with Alana, as she explores turning ordinary “stuff” into fantastic art.

Ongoing: Try Out Toys invites you to explore and experiment with wondrous toys to throw, toss, juggle, balance, and spin.

mapofedgerton2010Where is Edgerton Park? Edgerton Park is in New Haven on Whitney Avenue, right on the Hamden/New Haven line, just south of the Eli Whitney museum. Use the address “75 Cliff St.” in your GPS. The park has a lovely stone wall around it. Free parking in the residential neighborhood around the park.
