METALSMITHING FOR TEENS
Lanette Barber
Eight Mondays beginning March 29
3:00PM – 6:00PM
Open to students ages 14 and up.
This class is specifically designed for the high school level student to learn the metalsmithing process and techniques of finer metals. Students will learn about: sawing, filing, texture, connection, soldering, bezel set stones, and finish works of jewelry or small sculpture. Each step of the process will be explained through demonstration, discussion, one-on-one and hands-on for the working of non ferrous metals ie: copper, brass, silver. There will also be a focus on design and the planning required throughout the process of completing the piece. Please be sure to attend the first class and bring a note book and writing implement. Material fees for metals: Payable at the time of purchase-so be sure to have cash or a checkbook at each class. Fee payable with tuition $25.00

TEEN BLACKSMITHING

Four Wednesdays beginning April 7
3:30PM – 5:30PM
Open to all levels.
This class will teach students basic forging techniques. Students will learn how to build and maintain a coal fire, and use the new skills to make several small projects such as hooks, fire pokers, and hand forged jewelry. Students will need at least a 2lb. ball or cross pien hammer, safety glasses, leather work gloves, and should wear jeans and non-flammable cotton shirt and boots or leather shoes.

HEAT IT UP WITH GLASS!

Eight Thursdays beginning April 1
3:00PM – 6:00PM
In this class we will explore some of the interesting images and objects that can be created using glass, metal, clay and various refractory materials. We will fuse and cast glass objects, explore dichroic glass, mixed media, make experimental pieces, fire vitreous enamels onto both glass and metal, learn mold making for slumping and fusing, then close our class with an artist’s reception to display our work. Come with an open mind, bring a sketch book and a project box to hold your work in progress and wear your work clothes. Fee payable with tuition $90.00.

FASHION ANALYSIS

Three Saturdays beginning May 1
11:30AM – 1:00PM
Are you interested in fashion design? Learn about the business of fashion and then make it work for you. Explore designer style and silhouette. Practice fashion sketching, examine and assess clothes from your own closet, and up-cycle an old shirt or sweater from home to make it trendy. Plan and participate in a mini fashion show. Fee payable with tuition $15.00
