I’m infatuated with silhouettes right now.  And it all started with this handmade pendant.

I try not to ever do this, but sometimes…um…rarely…I make up excuses to buy myself a gift.  That’s what I did when I found this lovely handmade pendant on etsy.com.  (The worst part is, I’m pretty sure I was looking for a gift for someone else when I discovered this pendant and conveniently convinced myself I “needed” a gift to me, from me!) Story aside, I love my pendant of M.  I love the old fashioned feel of a profile portrait, a once popular form of portraiture prior to the invention of the camera.  I love having captured M at a time when she became a “little girl” in our eyes.  It’s really one of the best gifts I’ve ever received and that’s why I’m telling you about it.  With the holidays coming up, gift-giving is in full effect for many of us.  While our family has really shifted our approach to giving gifts (more on that later), these custom pendants are ok by me.
