For one more week, the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme will have their outdoor Wee Faerie Village exhibit on display.  Local artists created over 30 Faerie houses, which are built among the many wonderful old trees in the museum garden.  Each house belongs to a fairy, which is linked to an artist or other prominent person in the history of the Lyme art colony.  The miniature houses are a wonderful sight for children, and for adults who might be inspired to build their own Faerie play houses for their children at home!  The artists used mostly natural materials–like twigs, woodboxes, birdhouses, roots, acorns and shells–but also things like miniature statues, paintings and hammocks, making each house very unique.  The exhibit is as kid-friendly as can be for an art museum.  However, the standard rule applies, objects are not to be touched.  Nevertheless, there is lots of room for children to run around and one Faerie house is so big, children can play hide and seek inside of it!

Please note that Wee Faerie Village exhibit only runs until November 1, 2009.
