Worldwide Day of Play
This Saturday, September 26, is the Worldwide Day of Play.

Plain and simple, this day is meant to encourage children and their families to get out and play. The Worldwide Day of Play was started by television’s Nickelodeon channel in 2004 as a campaign to encourage children to be more active. Nickelodeon has been known to go off the air during the Day of Play to encourage kids to get off the couch. This year, the Stepping Stones Children’s Museum in Norwalk is offering FREE admission all day on Saturday in celebration. My guess is that it’ll be packed, but you can always sneak out of the museum, get some fresh air and let the kids loose at Devon’s Place, the Boundless Playground on the other side of the museum parking lot. For other ideas, see kidHaven’s list of outdoor activities or kidHaven’s Community Calendar – there’s lots going on this Saturday! Whatever you do, get outside and P L A Y!

Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day is also on the 26th. Here’s a list of all participating in CT (you have to fill out the coupon for each museum attending): http://www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/museum-search/?state=Connecticut Children’s Museum of SE CT is on the list (and I’ll be working).
