Jones Family Farm in Shelton

When July rolls around, Summer is in full effect at our house. Ceiling fans are twirling, tan lines are appearing and we are counting the days until the blueberries are ripe for picking.

Blueberries are nature’s candy and we just can’t get enough of them! Thank goodness Jones Family Farm is just a short drive away.  A Pick-Your-Own farm, Jones ranks as our favorite one in the area.  So much that M woke up this morning and the first thing out of her mouth was, “I want to go on the ‘Berry Ferry’ and pick blueberries, Mommy.”  Honest to goodness truth.  (And now you know my inspiration for this post!)

I’ve never met an unfriendly member of the Jones staff.  Customer service goes a long way with me, and they are top notch in this department.  Plus, Jones Family Farm is extremely family friendly to the extent that they have a play room adjacent to the wine tasting room!  Now if that’s not gonna get you to visit, I don’t know what will.

The best part about Jones, besides their squeaky clean Porta-Potties, is that they do more than just blueberries.  We pick strawberries in June, blueberries in July and August because we stock our freezer full of ‘em, pumpkins in October and Christmas trees in December.  I admit it, we’re addicted.

One last tidbit.  ALWAYS call the daily farm report before jumping in the car, 203.929.8425.  But this goes for any Pick-Your-Own outing!
